About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Lead architecture, design, and delivery of high-performance applications using Ruby on Rails, React, and modern cloud technologies
Build scalable, maintainable software supporting enterprise customers across a rapidly growing platform
Design AI-assisted engineering tools, workflows, and automation to improve developer productivity, code quality, and customer outcomes
Own projects end-to-end from technical discovery through production deployment and long-term ownership
Embed automated testing, code quality practices, and continuous validation early in the development lifecycle
Manage scope, balance technical debt, protect sprint commitments, and reduce reactive work
Establish performance benchmarks and optimize application speed, scalability, and reliability
Champion security, technical integrity, and sustainable architecture
Mentor engineers through coaching, code reviews, and technical leadership
Turn ambiguous product requirements into well-scoped, testable engineering work with measurable success criteria
Partner with Product, Design, Engineering Leadership, and R&D Architecture on cohesive technical solutions
Lead knowledge-sharing sessions, architecture discussions, retrospectives, and technical brown bags

Requirements

What you’ll need

7+ years building modern full-stack applications
Strong experience with Ruby on Rails and React, or equivalent expertise with modern backend and frontend technologies
Experience designing scalable distributed systems serving enterprise customers
Deep understanding of API design using GraphQL, REST, or similar technologies
Experience with Google Cloud Platform and modern data technologies including Kafka, BigQuery, Flink, Redis, Elasticsearch, or comparable tools
Proven ability to optimize application performance through benchmarking, observability, and scalability engineering
Experience designing, building, or customizing AI-enabled engineering workflows
Demonstrated success leading engineering teams through technical delivery, sprint execution, and architectural decision-making
Experience as a team lead, rotating lead, or backup lead, including facilitating stand-ups, retrospectives, planning sessions, and coaching teammates
Strong systems thinking and ability to transform ambiguous business problems into clear technical solutions
Excellent communication, collaboration, and mentoring skills
AI fluency, including prompt engineering, AI workflow orchestration, evaluation of AI outputs, and responsible AI use throughout the software development lifecycle
