About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Plan, organize, direct, and evaluate operations of the Respiratory Care, Pulmonary Rehab, and Cardiac Rehab departments
- Manage department administrative and fiscal performance and accountability
- Provide direction, supervision, and leadership for the entire staff
- Plan the scope and emphasis of respiratory, pulmonary, and cardiac services in relation to hospital services and community need
- Monitor staffing needs, assignments, productivity, and resource distribution
- Identify and implement quality improvements and corrective action plans
- Provide direct patient care as needed
- Coordinate respiratory care services with nursing units and physicians
- Review, update, and develop policies and procedures
- Interview applicants and recommend hires
- Conduct performance appraisals, recommend merit increases, and set goals
- Conduct team meetings and collaborate with other managers
- Monitor licenses, permits, and disciplinary actions
- Assist administrative and medical directors with departmental planning and projects
- Facilitate interdepartmental communications and serve as a liaison
- Help prepare annual budgets and forecast human resource, equipment, and supply needs
- Serve on committees, make operational recommendations, and present information as needed
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's Degree in Respiratory or related field
- RRT (Registered Respiratory Therapist) credential
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification from the American Heart Association
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification from the American Heart Association
- Registered respiratory therapist by NBRC
- Licensed by the State of Ohio
- Considerable knowledge of respiratory care department operations
- 3 to 5 years as a supervisor in a respiratory care department
- 3 to 5 years as a staff therapist
