About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Assess and reassess patient nutrition risk using age-appropriate standards, validated assessment tools, and nutrition-focused physical assessments
- Document nutrition-related diagnoses and patient care accurately in the electronic medical record
- Develop, implement, monitor, and adapt nutrition care plans, including feeding routes, modes, and nutrition prescriptions
- Develop parenteral and enteral feeding regimens and utilize medical data to determine nutrition needs
- Coordinate nutrition therapy with physicians and other healthcare professionals
- Participate in multidisciplinary rounds, care planning sessions, teams, committees, and departmental meetings
- Provide nutrition counseling and education to patients, families, and caregivers
- Educate and train interdisciplinary team members, students, and interns
- Support quality improvement, research, outcome studies, waste reduction, and service improvements
- Maintain and revise nutrition tools, training materials, policies, procedures, programs, and services
- Evaluate clinical nutrition products and equipment
- Comply with regulatory standards, confidentiality, HIPAA regulations, and patient rights policies
- Review research and practice recommendations and modify practice as needed
- Perform 80% direct patient care and 20% indirect patient care activities
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's Degree (Required)
- 1 year of experience (Required)
- Registered, Licensed Dietitian with at least two or more years' experience in the acute care setting (Required)
- Must achieve Registered Dietician credential within 6 months of date of hire
- Limited permit required if Registered Dietitian credential has not been obtained at time of hire
- Effective time management, organization, self-starter, and teamwork skills
- Excellent analytic, communication, and documentation skills
- Able to communicate effectively in English in-person, in writing, and on the telephone
- Critical thinking, independent work, basic math and statistical functions, multitasking, written composition, accuracy, attention to detail, planning, problem solving, analysis, presentation, and organization skills
- Ability to calculate calorie intake, protein needs, body mass index, and enteral/parenteral formulation
- Ohio Board of Dietetics Licensure, Ohio Limited Permit, and Registered Dietician credential requirements as applicable
