Clinical Dietitian – Float

About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Assess and reassess patient nutrition risk using age-appropriate standards, validated assessment tools, and nutrition-focused physical assessments
- Develop and implement nutrition plans of care, including enteral and parenteral feeding regimens
- Create and implement nutrition protocols
- Coordinate nutrition therapy with physicians and other healthcare professionals
- Participate in multidisciplinary rounds, care planning sessions, committees, quality improvement, research, and outcome studies
- Monitor and evaluate patient response to medical nutrition therapy and modify care as needed
- Provide nutrition counseling and education to patients, families, caregivers, interdisciplinary team members, students, and interns
- Document nutrition care accurately in the electronic medical record, including use of order-writing privileges
- Support development and revision of nutrition tools, training materials, policies, and procedures
- Evaluate clinical nutrition products and equipment
- Maintain current knowledge of research and practice recommendations
- Ensure compliance with regulatory, confidentiality, HIPAA, and patient-rights requirements
- Perform 80% direct patient care and 20% indirect patient care activities
- Participate in departmental meetings, team development, professional programs, and multidisciplinary teams
- Identify opportunities for waste reduction and service improvements
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's Degree (Required)
- At least 1 year of experience required
- Registered, Licensed Dietitian
- At least two or more years' experience in the acute care setting
- Ability to communicate effectively in English in-person, in writing, and on the telephone
- Effective time management, organization, critical thinking, problem solving, analytical, documentation, presentation, and planning skills
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple assignments, perform basic math and statistical functions, and pay close attention to detail
- Ability to calculate calorie intake, protein needs, body mass index, and enteral/parenteral formulations
- Ohio Board of Dietetics licensure
- Registered Dietitian credential from the Commission on Dietetic Registration
- Basic computer skills
- Compliance with regulatory standards, HIPAA regulations, confidentiality, and patient rights policies
