About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Utilize evidence-based nutrition care to assess and reassess patient nutrition risk and identify nutrition needs
  • Develop parenteral and enteral feeding regimens
  • Create and implement nutrition protocols
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and committees
  • Provide nutrition counseling to patients and families
  • Participate in multidisciplinary interaction, rounds, care planning, and education
  • Perform nutrition assessments using age-appropriate standards, validated assessment tools, and nutrition-focused physical assessments
  • Document nutrition-related diagnoses and patient care accurately in the electronic medical record
  • Develop, implement, monitor, and adapt nutrition care plans based on physician orders, age, and disease-specific needs
  • Coordinate nutrition therapy with physicians and other healthcare professionals
  • Educate patients, families, caregivers, interdisciplinary team members, students, and interns
  • Support quality improvement, research, outcome studies, waste reduction, and service improvements
  • Evaluate clinical nutrition products and equipment
  • Maintain compliance with regulatory standards, HIPAA, confidentiality, and patient rights policies
  • Participate in departmental meetings, team development, professional programs, multidisciplinary teams, and committees
  • Review research and practice recommendations and modify practice as needed
  • 80% direct patient care activities; 20% indirect patient care activities
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's Degree (Required)
  • At least 1 year of experience (Required)
  • Registered, Licensed Dietitian with at least two or more years' experience in the acute care setting (Required)
  • Must achieve Registered Dietician credential within 6 months of date of hire
  • Limited permit required if Registered Dietitian credential has not been obtained at time of hire
  • Effective time management, organization, self-starter, and team player skills
  • Excellent analytic, communication, and documentation skills
  • Able to communicate effectively in English in-person, in writing, and on the telephone; utilize language services as needed
  • Critical thinking, independent work, basic math and statistical functions, managing multiple assignments, written composition, accuracy, attention to detail, planning, problem solving, analysis, presentation, and organization skills
  • Ability to analyze and interpret data, processes, and needs based on limited information
  • Ability to calculate equations for calorie intake, protein needs, body mass index, and enteral/parenteral formulation
  • OBDL - Ohio Board of Dietetics Licensure
  • RD - Registered Dietician credential from the Commission on Dietetic Registration
