About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide clinical support to healthcare professionals and physician practices
- Serve as a clinical subject matter expert in the practice
- Train new clinical staff when possessing 2+ years of experience
- Lead and promote clinical quality and safety standards
- Facilitate efficient and effective patient flow
- Prepare patients for visits and provide provider-directed services and education within licensure, Ohio policy, and scope of practice
- Perform administrative duties and maintain current information in the EMR in-basket
- Maintain and clean the environment, work area, and equipment; report malfunctions
- Communicate respectfully with patients and customers
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure continuity, quality of care, and service coordination
- Collect and monitor patient data and report patient needs as directed
- Maintain documentation guidelines for patient-chargeable items and services
- Monitor processes and services for quality, cost effectiveness, and efficiency
- Engage in process and quality improvement activities and implement operational recommendations
- Maintain professional competence through continuous study and best-practice learning
- Promote patient quality, safety, and experience initiatives
- Serve as a department, unit, or practice SME/resource for quality, performance improvement, and EMR, including EPIC Super User responsibilities
- Lead and support development of standard work and necessary customizations
- Function as a clinical preceptor and train new staff
- Focus on safety, quality, and efficiency in accordance with High Reliability Organization responsibilities
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Completion of an HS Medical Assistant Career Tech Program, School of Medical Assisting, Military Medic training, Paramedic training, or 1 year of on-the-job training in a like practice
- Successful completion of a competency-based orientation program with medical assisting focus
- Military healthcare training
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 120 days of hire
- Experience using EMR documentation, preferably EPIC
- Experience as an EPIC Super User or trainer
- Experience as a preceptor
- Successful completion of Care Connect EMR documentation skills
- Compliance with scope of practice
- Ability to complete required continuous training and education, including department-specific requirements
