About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Assist physicians with administrative and clinical duties in compliance with the Ohio Administrative Code
- Assist with patient care and provide specific services as directed by providers
- Facilitate efficient patient flow, including preparing patients for visits
- Provide administrative assistance to the department
- Register patients, enter patient information, and verify insurance
- Answer and appropriately direct telephone calls
- Greet customers and patients
- Perform Care Connect EMR documentation and maintain the EMR in basket
- Perform administrative duties to keep information current and updated
- Maintain and clean the environment, work area, and equipment; report malfunctions
- Collect and monitor patient data and report patient data and needs as directed
- Maintain documentation for patient chargeable items and services
- Engage in quality improvement activities and implement operational efficiency recommendations
- Promote patient quality, safety, and experience initiatives
- Serve as a subject matter expert/resource for quality, performance improvement, and EMR (including EPIC Super User functions)
- Support development of standard work and necessary customizations
- Function as a clinical preceptor and train new staff
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Completion of a High School Medical Assistant Career Technical Program, or graduation from an accredited School of Medical Assisting, or completion of Military Medic training, or certification/training as a Paramedic (EMT-P), or at least one year of experience as a physician-trained Medical Assistant in a similar clinical setting
- BLS - Basic Life Support - American Heart Association
- CMA(ARMA) - Certified Medical Assistant - ARMA American Registry of Medical Assistants
- Successful completion of Care Connect EMR documentation skills
- Compliance with scope of practice
- Completion of required continuous training and education, including department-specific requirements
