About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Perform administrative and clinical duties delegated by the physician
Focus on surgery scheduling, with cross-training in front desk and referral coordination
Assist physicians with patient care in compliance with the Ohio Administrative Code
Facilitate efficient patient flow by preparing patients for visits and providing provider-directed services
Document patient information using Care Connect EMR
Perform administrative duties, including maintaining current information and monitoring the EMR in-basket
Maintain and clean the work environment, equipment, and work area; report equipment malfunctions
Collect and monitor patient data and report patient needs as directed
Maintain documentation for patient chargeable items and services
Monitor processes and services for quality, cost effectiveness, and efficiency
Participate in process and quality improvement activities and implement recommendations
Promote patient quality, safety, and experience initiatives
Serve as a subject matter expert/resource for quality, performance improvement, and EMR, including EPIC Super User responsibilities
Support development of standard work and necessary customizations
Train new staff and function as a clinical preceptor
Communicate and collaborate with patients, customers, and the healthcare team to ensure continuity and quality of care

Requirements

What you’ll need

High School Diploma or Equivalent
Completion of a High School Medical Assistant Career Technical Program, or graduation from an accredited School of Medical Assisting, or completion of Military Medic training, or certification as a Paramedic (EMT-P), or at least one year of experience as a physician-trained Medical Assistant in a similar clinical setting
BLS (Basic Life Support) certification from the American Heart Association
Successful completion of Care Connect EMR documentation skills
Compliance with Ohio scope-of-practice requirements and the Ohio Administrative Code
Ability to travel between the Bing Cancer Center, Pickerington Methodist Hospital, and Grant Medical Center
Ability to perform clinical and administrative medical-assisting duties
Ability to complete required continuous training and department-specific education
