About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide pastoral care and spiritual support to patients, family members/significant others, and staff under supervision of a staff chaplain
  • Serve as a member of an interfaith pastoral care staff
  • Provide direct patient care for emergent and routine requests
  • Assess patients' and families' spiritual needs using clinical pastoral conversation
  • Communicate and document patient interactions and consult frequently with the chaplain educator
  • Develop respectful and compassionate relationships with patients, families, and staff
  • Participate in overnight and weekend on-call rotation
  • Provide religious/spiritual rituals and non-pharmacological interventions
  • Liaise with patients' faith groups/leaders and community or cultural resources when appropriate
  • Provide care in hospital and outpatient areas
  • Perform duties with focus on safety, quality, and efficiency

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's Degree in Theology
  • At least one unit of Clinical Pastoral Education (ACPE, NACC, CASC) or equivalent faith group leadership experience
  • Knowledge of crisis care and counseling skills
  • Participation in overnight and weekend on-call rotation
  • Ability to provide pastoral care in diverse acute and non-acute healthcare settings
