About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide pastoral care and spiritual support to patients, family members/significant others, and staff under supervision of a staff chaplain
- Serve as a member of an interfaith pastoral care staff
- Provide direct patient care for emergent and routine requests
- Assess spiritual needs and concerns using clinical pastoral conversation
- Communicate and document patient interactions
- Consult frequently with the chaplain educator
- Develop respectful and compassionate relationships with patients, families, and staff
- Participate in overnight and weekend on-call rotation
- Provide religious/spiritual rituals and non-pharmacological interventions
- Liaise with patients’ faith groups, leaders, community, and cultural resources when appropriate
- Provide care in diverse acute and non-acute settings, including hospital and outpatient areas
- Support safety, quality, and efficiency as part of a High Reliability Organization
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's Degree in Theology
- At least one unit of Clinical Pastoral Education (ACPE, NACC, CASC) or equivalent faith group leadership experience
- Knowledge of crisis care and counseling skills
- Ability to provide pastoral care under supervision
- Ability to work variable shifts, including overnight and weekend on-call rotations
- Ability to provide care in diverse acute and non-acute healthcare settings
- Ability to serve patients, families/significant others, staff, and inter-professional teams in an interfaith environment
