About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Assist with customer issues involving face-to-face interaction with patients and/or families regarding point-of-service collections, financial assistance programs and Medicaid eligibility and qualifications
- Lead face-to-face patient inquiries and concerns regarding account balances, financial assistance, insurance information, payment arrangements and other non-clinical questions
- Receive and resolve escalated customer issues from Financial Counselors, Customer Service, Administration, Risk Management, Revenue Cycle Management, Legal Offices and other designated areas
- Research issues and follow up with requesting parties; contact customers by telephone or letter when needed
- Ensure OhioHealth charity policies and procedures are followed and offered appropriately to all patients
- Perform follow-up and training on identified issues and concerns with department associates
- Provide supervisor coverage at central Ohio and regional facilities as needed
- Work directly with an outside eligibility vendor and quality-review its work
- Meet face-to-face with patients regarding Medicare deductible and inpatient commercial copay collection opportunities
- Complete department reports as assigned
- Perform duties with focus on safety, quality and efficiency as part of a High Reliability Organization
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School or GED (Required)
- Typing skills of 30 wpm essential
- Demonstrated PC software application knowledge
- Demonstrated ability to access and use multiple data systems, including billing, registration and scheduling systems
- Extensive knowledge of insurance, hospital charges, patient accounting principles and financial evaluation techniques
- Excellent speaking and writing skills
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and organization skills
- Minimum two to three years of directly related experience in a hospital or ambulatory setting
- Ability to work in a clinic setting and support coverage at central Ohio and regional facilities as needed
