About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Assess accommodation needs for associates requesting at-work accommodations, including intermittent leave as an accommodation
  • Follow the Disabilities and Reasonable Accommodation Policy
  • Create a supportive atmosphere for associates with disabilities requesting reasonable accommodations
  • Consult with managers, healthcare providers, Human Resources, Associate Relations representatives, Talent Acquisition, Associate Health clinics, and leaders
  • Research accommodation options and work with purchasing to obtain equipment when needed
  • Follow up with associates to determine whether accommodations are effective
  • Provide case management throughout the accommodation process
  • Assess accommodation needs of new hires before hire and determine qualifications and possible accommodations
  • Provide job placement assistance to associates with disabilities unable to perform the essential functions of their positions
  • Assess job readiness, interests, resumes, and restrictions
  • Identify suitable positions and network with managers regarding open positions
  • Coordinate job coaching and job trials
  • Provide documentation and testimony for ADA or FMLA legal charges, work with outside counsel, gather case documents, attend depositions, and provide expert testimony
  • Act as the ADA and FMLA subject matter expert
  • Provide opinions on complex cases and contact associates for clarification
  • Perform other duties as requested by the supervisor

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's Degree (Required)
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Human Resources, rehabilitation, or another related field
  • 7 years of experience managing ADA reasonable accommodation and the interactive process
  • Strong communication skills
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Claim management experience
  • Knowledge of ADA and Federal FMLA regulations
  • Ability to follow the interactive process to determine accommodation needs
  • Ability to provide documentation and testimony for ADA or FMLA legal matters when requested
