About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Design, establish and maintain OM Bank’s AML/CFT programme
- Support the Chief Compliance Officer in determining AML/CFT strategic direction
- Serve as Section 42 Compliance Officer and AML Reporting Officer, subject to regulatory approval
- Develop and maintain AML/CFT strategy aligned with regulatory requirements and best practice
- Monitor emerging trends and the regulatory landscape, advising and engaging the business
- Uphold compliance standards and promote a strong culture of compliance and internal control
- Provide regulatory interpretation and financial crime compliance advice
- Maintain the financial crime regulatory universe and identify, assess, report and mitigate compliance risks
- Maintain the Business Risk Assessment and RMCP
- Establish and maintain financial crime policies and standards
- Develop and maintain a financial crime training programme
- Establish independent AML monitoring capability covering transaction monitoring, CDD/EDD and screening
- Implement data-driven reporting with KRIs and thresholds
- Provide specialist AML investigation support for high-risk customers and suspicious transactions
- Prepare, submit and track AML regulatory returns, surveys and information requests
- Proactively report breaches to regulatory and supervisory bodies
- Maintain relationships with the FIC and Prudential Authority
- Represent OM Bank at industry engagements
- Report actionable insights to management, ACC and the Board
- Build and manage AML team capability
Requirements
What you’ll need- Minimum 10–15 years’ experience in financial services
- At least 7–10 years in financial crime / AML/CFT compliance
- Significant exposure to banking or credit environments
- Proven experience designing and implementing AML/CFT frameworks
- Experience developing Risk Management and Compliance Programmes (RMCPs)
- Experience conducting or overseeing Business Risk Assessments (BRA)
- Relevant Bachelor's degree in legal, compliance, commerce or governance, and/or a senior compliance qualification (BCOM; BCOM Law, LLB)
- ICA Diploma / Advanced Certificate in AML or Financial Crime
- Understanding of effective compliance function principles
- Proven track record in monitoring
- Experience in a Financial Crime Compliance environment within the banking sector
- Exposure to FICA, FATF recommendations and prescripts, PROCDATA, FATCA and Exchange Control
- Monitoring and report writing skills
- Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills
- Ability to engage with senior management, Board committees and regulators
- Excellent negotiation, stakeholder collaboration and influencing skills
- Ability to manage conflicts, self and others
- High organisation, methodical working style and attention to detail
- Problem-solving mindset and ability to work in a dynamic, stressful environment
