About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Design, build, and maintain infrastructure supporting data storage, processing, and retrieval.
Work with large data sets and develop data pipelines moving data from source systems to data warehouses and other storage and processing systems.
Oversee data collection mechanisms and their fit within data architecture, partnering with internal and external stakeholders to ensure quality and accuracy.
Contribute to approval of database specifications while ensuring standards, protocols, and data integrity.
Collect and document business requirements through interviews, document analysis, workshops, and workflow analysis.
Install and test complex databases and associated products.
Design and select medium-complexity storage, data center, network, and client/server environments.
Provide a third-line escalation point for appropriate global infrastructure solutions.
Implement security measures such as firewalls and message encryption, and monitor performance.
Create and maintain technical and user documentation and back up files for recovery.
Research and recommend technical developments for websites, portals, software, and supporting infrastructure.
Support documentation of “as is” and “to be” processes and migration requirements.
Identify and report noncompliance with organizational policies, procedures, regulatory codes, and codes of conduct.
Participate in assessment, development planning, training, coaching, ongoing education, conferences, and specialist media to build capability.

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, Data Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
2 - 4 years' experience in data engineering, database development, software development, or a related technical discipline.
Proficiency in SQL and Python is required.
Exposure to data integration, ETL processes, and cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP.
Knowledge of database design, data warehousing, data pipelines, and data governance principles is preferred.
Experience within financial services, collections, payments, customer operations, contact centre environments or other data-intensive environments will be advantageous.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication and collaboration skills are essential.
NQF Level 7 - Degree, Advance Diploma or Postgraduate Certificate or equivalent (Required).
