About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Architect the future of Omnidian’s software ecosystem
- Design and implement Java full-stack features and services powering Performance and Financial Insights
- Build, optimize, and maintain Databricks data pipelines and related Python components
- Translate requirements into technical specifications and success criteria
- Contribute to architectural discussions and technical design
- Drive testing strategy and use Claude for unit, integration, and end-to-end test generation
- Apply security-first practices
- Write production-grade Java Spring Boot code and support front-end work
- Create and maintain Databricks data pipelines and transformations
- Use Claude for coding, refactoring, debugging, and integration testing
- Perform code reviews and uphold engineering standards
- Mentor Software Engineers and share effective Claude usage patterns
- Participate in agile ceremonies and break down work
- Communicate progress, risks, and dependencies
- Coordinate with partner teams on cross-team deliverables
- Improve codebases, processes, and developer experience
- Document and evangelize a technical vision
- Guide the team in breaking high-level vision into milestones
- Support workload-management best practices and provide visibility to stakeholders and executives
- Collaborate with Product, Data Management, and engineering teams
Requirements
What you’ll need- 7–12 years of professional software engineering experience
- Strong proficiency in Java and the Spring ecosystem, including Spring Boot
- Solid full-stack experience with TypeScript/React or equivalent
- Hands-on experience with Databricks, including pipelines, Delta Lake, and optimization
- Supporting Python experience
- Deep SQL skills and experience building or optimizing data systems that deliver insights
- Ability to design, implement, and ship complex features with high-quality tests
- Extensive experience using Claude for coding tasks and integration testing
- Ability to help others adopt effective Claude practices
- Experience participating in or leading technical design discussions
- Experience mentoring more junior engineers
- Strong full-stack engineering skills and clean, reliable coding practices
- Optional: advanced Databricks features, Medallion architecture, or lakehouse optimization
- Optional: integrating generative AI tools into development workflows
- Optional: Infrastructure as Code, Kubernetes, or cloud platforms
- Optional: event-driven architectures, time-series/IoT data, or metadata/catalog systems
- Optional: solar industry or financial/performance analytics domain experience
