About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Architect one or more subsystems of the Horizon Cloud Services Next Gen platform
  • Define the technical vision and make architecturally significant decisions
  • Lead complex, cross-team features end-to-end from requirements through production
  • Set and drive adoption of performance, security, and operability best practices
  • Mentor engineers through design/code reviews, brown-bags, and knowledge sharing
  • Partner with product management and engineering teams to create technical roadmaps
  • Leverage AI expertise to improve productivity and develop innovative solutions
  • Design and develop cloud service components using Azure, AWS, and open service platforms
  • Build scalable, resilient, maintainable, and secure microservices
  • Develop software using Python, Windows programming, Java/J2EE frameworks, object-oriented programming, and open-source technologies
  • Work in an agile development environment using Scrum processes and engineering best practices
  • Analyze requirements and write and review research and design documents
  • Collaborate with team members and integration teams to deliver complex features
  • Provide guidance on complex bugs and customer issues
  • Participate in technical conferences, organizational activities, and recruitment events

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 5+ years of extensive experience working in multithreaded, distributed application development
  • Deep, hands-on expertise in Java/J2EE, Python, JavaScript, and REST API design
  • Strong background designing and building large-scale distributed systems and microservices, including Spring Boot and Kubernetes
  • Proven experience architecting subsystems or services with broad, cross-product impact
  • Knowledge of UML, software architectural style, Object-Oriented Analysis and Design (OOAD), and J2EE design patterns
  • Experience developing highly scalable, resilient, maintainable, and secure architectures and microservices
  • Demonstrated technical leadership through design/code reviews, mentoring engineers, and influencing technical direction across teams
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work across geographically distributed teams
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience
