About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide leadership and direction to a team of Purchasing & Design Specialists
  • Ensure successful delivery of Travel and Events budgets, proposals and contracts
  • Develop and mentor assigned team members to support career path and growth
  • Plan and monitor staffing and workload and ensure accountability for deliverables
  • Participate in hiring decisions
  • Train direct reports on department processes and position expectations
  • Provide performance feedback through regular one-on-one meetings
  • Oversee project work and team participation in Client Playbooks
  • Collaborate with Client Services to drive operational excellence and growth
  • Attend proposal kick-off and turnover meetings
  • Conduct file reviews through turnover to Event Management
  • Monitor proposal timelines and deliverables
  • Proof proposal budgets against program agendas
  • Assist with pricing standards and profitability
  • Review and approve budgets and proformas
  • Review client and supplier contracts
  • Ensure compliance with negotiated savings documentation
  • Participate in client presentations
  • Develop and maintain relationships with hotels, NSOs, DMCs, and CVBs
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum ten years of extensive meeting/incentive & event management experience
  • Client and supplier contract expertise
  • 2-3 years’ experience in successfully delegating and leading individuals/team
  • High level proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word, PowerPoint and Excel
  • Proven ability in project management and financial aptitude
  • Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in a deadline driven environment
  • Strong editing and writing skills
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple projects
  • Ability to work independently as well as a member of a team
  • Superior customer service ethic and high expectations for quality
  • Ability to travel as needed
