About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Assist physicians in a clinical office setting to ensure patient care
  • Triage patients and provide assistance during in-office procedures
  • Obtain and accurately assess vital signs, including escalation of abnormal findings
  • Collect, label, and document laboratory specimens
  • Obtain documents from various EHR systems for results and reports
  • Schedule imaging, surgeries, labs, and other interventions as directed
  • Obtain prior authorizations for tests and surgeries when needed
  • Send referrals and maintain communication with community partners
  • Communicate with patients’ care teams regarding new orders for skilled nursing facilities or hospitals
  • Triage patient phone calls and accurately communicate provider instructions
  • Educate patients about tests, pre/post-surgical care, medications, and other concerns
  • Contact patients regarding test results as directed
  • Contact pharmacies regarding medication orders and changes
  • Document all patient care in the EHR
  • Maintain adequate stock of medications and supplies
  • Keep patient rooms and nurse stations clean
  • Sterilize instruments
  • Travel between assigned clinic locations as needed due to location changes
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Current LPN or current Medical Assistant License is preferred
  • Maintain Quality OSHA Controls and HIPAA compliance
  • Experience in charting into an electronic health record (eClinicalWorks experience is preferred)
  • Experience in Microsoft programs (Outlook and Word)
  • Ability to quickly learn common medications used in practice (name, action, and side effects)
  • Ability to learn common surgeries and recognize/triage the complications associated with them
  • General understanding of sterile technique, surgical equipment, and human anatomy
  • Ability to sit and stand for prolonged periods of time
  • Ability to lift objects, possibly weights more than 30 pounds
  • Ability to bend, reach, and twist
  • Ability to assist and support patients in transfer from exam rooms, out of wheelchairs, onto exam tables, during the exam process, etc.
  • Close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus as needed
