Ultrasonographer

About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform high-quality ultrasound exams and corresponding reports of patients’ anatomy as it applies to Urology
- Perform exams safely and efficiently
- Prepare patients for exams and assist with transferring them to the ultrasound table
- Obtain and record accurate patient information, including timeout confirmation of patient name and date of birth
- Include prior test results and physical examination information when appropriate
- Operate and adjust ultrasound equipment and maneuver patients to obtain quality diagnostic images
- Perform sonograms and provide oral and/or written summaries of technical findings to assist physicians with diagnosis and treatment
- Determine appropriate images to differentiate normal and pathological areas
- Transfer all images to the PACS and maintain working knowledge of PACS functionality
- Maintain a clean and safe environment in each exam room
- Maintain cleaning logs for each machine and room
- Maintain and stock supplies, prepare supplies for special examinations, and order supplies when necessary
- Report malfunctioning equipment to management
- Adhere to UUG policies and procedures for infection control
Requirements
What you’ll need- Associates degree required
- Minimum of one year of experience performing diagnostic abdominal ultrasound studies
- American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) board certification required; Abdomen and Physics certification required and verified prior to employment
- Certificate of completion from a recognized and accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program, verified prior to employment
- BLS certification required and verified prior to employment
- Maintain CME requirements as required by ARDMS
- Working knowledge of ultrasound principles and practices, including differentiation of cross-section anatomy and medical terminology
- Working knowledge of ultrasound equipment and related computer systems
- Strong typing, written, and verbal communication skills
- Minimum typing speed of 40 words per minute
- Proficient computer software and database skills
- Ability to tolerate working in confined areas and/or with distractions when necessary
- Ability to multitask, proactively solve problems, and work in a fast-paced environment
- Adhere to HIPAA regulations
- Ability and willingness to travel to other sites as necessary within a geographic region
