About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead the legal function and support the Compliance Team across payments and cryptocurrency business units
- Advise the Group CEO, Board of Directors, and senior leadership team on legal, regulatory, corporate governance, and IP matters
- Provide executive oversight across multiple jurisdictions
- Draft, review, and negotiate high-value, complex, and strategic commercial contracts
- Oversee customer-facing contract terms and draft Service Terms for new products and jurisdictions
- Oversee corporate governance, company law compliance, corporate filings, board meetings, and governance documentation
- Support regulatory horizon scanning, international licensing strategy, and new market expansion
- Partner with Compliance to structure regulatory submissions, navigate licensing frameworks, and align controls and processes with legal standards
- Embed legal review into product design and launch decisions
- Support expansion into new products and jurisdictions and advise commercial, people, and regulatory teams
- Manage, coach, and develop the Senior Legal Counsel
- Set legal matter intake, triage, delegation, escalation, and turnaround standards
- Manage the legal budget and external counsel relationships across jurisdictions
- Work closely with Compliance, Product, Operations, Finance, Banking, and Commercial Teams
Requirements
What you’ll need- Qualified solicitor (preferably UK)
- Extensive in-house experience in financial services, fintech, regulatory law, and/or cryptocurrency
- Proven track record advising C-suite executives and Boards of Directors
- Proven track record in commercial contract negotiation, legal risk management, and corporate governance
- In-depth knowledge of payments and cryptocurrency laws and regulations, including UK PSRs, MiCA, DORA, international AML regulations, and GDPR
- Extensive experience in high-level corporate governance, corporate restructuring, and cross-border expansion
- UK-based; sponsorship is not available
