About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead Growth engineering teams in partnership with Growth Product
- Oversee software engineering efforts driving user acquisition, activation, and conversion across iOS, Android, and Web
- Define and articulate a multi-year Growth Engineering Strategy aligned with corporate goals
- Facilitate long-term engineering strategies with the Product organization
- Collaborate with Marketing on marketing technology stack strategy
- Champion A/B testing infrastructure and rapid experimentation to optimize the conversion funnel
- Oversee the design and evolution of highly available and secure growth foundational systems
- Establish scalable, maintainable technical systems and standards
- Drive personalization engineering, including User Personalization systems
- Improve data warehousing and business metric reporting with Data Engineering and BI
- Own the SDLC and execute foundations for operational excellence
- Lead Engineering Managers and Software Engineers across backend, mobile, and Web platforms
- Mentor and coach technical leaders; drive hiring, performance reviews, and career progression
- Educate teams on growth strategies and future-proof technical solutions
- Refine the Growth-domain career ladder
- Partner with User Acquisition and Marketing Automation teams to align engineering deliverables with campaign goals
- Coordinate growth-funnel event measurement with Data Engineering and Business Intelligence
- Integrate horizontal Growth initiatives with the overall product roadmap
Requirements
What you’ll need- Proven experience of at least 4+ years in technical leadership across growth teams, specifically within mobile and web environments
- Strong background in technical solutions involving marketing, product, and engineering teams
- Track record instituting sound SDLC practices, including testing, code review, incident response, and observability, in a high-velocity environment
- Expertise in managing complex subscription lifecycles and payment integration systems
- Ability to proactively identify and own areas of improvement
- Deep understanding of experimentation methodologies, including A/B testing and instrumentation
- Curiosity for exploring new technologies, including AI
- Ability to demonstrate onX’s Company Values
- Permanent US work authorization is a condition of employment
- Ability to travel quarterly for multiple days to a corporate office or other onX strategic location
- Candidates must reside in a state where onX is currently able to employ team members
