About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Design, build, and evolve customer-facing Hunt experiences across mobile applications, APIs, backend services, and data systems
  • Own technical solutions from design through delivery
  • Make architectural, performance, scalability, reliability, security, and maintainability decisions
  • Build and support large-scale systems throughout their lifecycle
  • Diagnose complex technical issues and continuously improve owned systems
  • Partner with Product, Design, QA, and engineers across teams
  • Navigate cross-team dependencies and deliver cohesive customer experiences
  • Write maintainable, well-tested code using unit, integration, and acceptance testing
  • Review code, share technical knowledge, and mentor and support other engineers
  • Embed AI as a repeatable co-pilot in daily workflows through experimentation, refinement, judgment, and validation
  • Report to the Engineering Manager of Hunt

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, computer engineering, a related field, or equivalent experience
  • Five (5) or more years of professional software development experience required
  • API development as a professional focus for at least three (3) or more years
  • Experience building and debugging distributed, scalable microservices architectures
  • Modern API and systems design and development knowledge
  • Strong computer science foundation
  • Experience with relational databases such as MySQL and PostgreSQL
  • Experience working in Go, Elixir, or other functional programming languages
  • Experience with iOS or Android development
  • Ability to write maintainable, well-tested code
  • Permanent US work authorization is a condition of employment
  • Ability to travel occasionally for multiple days to a corporate office or other onX strategic location
