About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Plan and run qualitative and quantitative research across the full product lifecycle
- Select appropriate research methods while balancing speed, rigor, tradeoffs, and credibility
- Build deep knowledge of customers and products to identify research questions and shape product strategy
- Partner with Product, Design, Data Science, Business Intelligence, and Marketing
- Scope studies collaboratively and translate research findings into clear next steps
- Advise partners on study design and methodology
- Coach non-researchers and contribute to shared research standards and practices
- Explore responsible use of AI to improve research speed, quality, and reuse
- Conduct interviews, usability testing, diary studies, and other generative and evaluative research
- Design and execute quantitative studies using survey, behavioral, and customer-experience data
- Apply descriptive and inferential statistics
- Integrate qualitative, quantitative, and behavioral data to identify patterns and understand customer needs over time
- Report to the UX Research Manager
Requirements
What you’ll need- Portfolio, work samples, or case studies required as part of the application
- Eight years of relevant experience, including at least five years in UX, product, or consumer research
- Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree, or PhD in Psychology, Human Factors, Human-Computer Interaction, Anthropology, or related field, or equivalent experience
- Proven mixed-methods research fluency
- Experience independently designing, executing, analyzing, and integrating qualitative and quantitative studies
- Experience with interviews, usability testing, diary studies, and other generative and evaluative qualitative methods
- Hands-on quantitative research experience, including survey design and analysis, sampling strategies, data-quality assessment, and descriptive and inferential statistics
- Experience with UX measurement and Voice of Customer practices
- Ability to manage multiple research efforts and shifting priorities
- Strong curiosity for new technologies, including AI
- Ability to demonstrate onX’s Company Values
- Permanent US work authorization required
- Ability to travel quarterly for multiple days to a corporate office or other onX strategic location
- R or Python experience, advanced statistics, advanced survey methods, and outdoor enthusiasm are bonuses, not requirements
