About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Build and run a high-performing, distributed infrastructure organization of approximately 12 engineers
- Drive operational excellence, reliability, and accountability across infrastructure services
- Manage capital and operating budgets, vendor relationships, and contract negotiations
- Set technical direction across data centers, cloud environments, Linux, Kubernetes, networking, storage, observability, and network security
- Operate as a service provider to Network Operations teams by building and maintaining hardware platforms
- Collaborate with Product and Development teams to define, architect, and document infrastructure solutions
- Incorporate SLAs, performance targets, scalability, and capacity planning into infrastructure design
- Establish and develop team leads and build a leadership bench
- Partner with Security and organizational leadership to define and enforce infrastructure security policies and standards
- Lead security patch and operating system upgrade cadences and partner with audit and compliance teams, including SOX and SOC
- Build strategic plans, roadmaps, and executive presentations connecting infrastructure investment to business outcomes
- Own the 24/7/365 on-call escalation path and build an accountable escalation model and on-call program
- Champion automation, standardization, and modern infrastructure practices
- Identify opportunities for AI to improve infrastructure operations and engineering efficiency
- Represent infrastructure externally with customers and partners as needed
- Serve as infrastructure integration lead for future acquisitions
Requirements
What you’ll need- 10+ years of experience in infrastructure engineering or operations required
- 5+ years leading teams, ideally including experience leading through team leads or managers
- Deep technical fluency across Linux, Kubernetes, open-source tooling, cloud infrastructure and environments, data center operations, networking, storage, observability, and network security
- Track record of owning capital and operating budgets, managing vendors, and negotiating contracts
- Experience leading teams through a merger integration, org consolidation, or other significant structural change highly valued
- Background in telecom, VoIP, or other carrier-grade / high-availability service environments strongly preferred
- Demonstrated track record of measurable infrastructure cost optimization a plus
- Must work within US business hours
- Occasional travel as needed
