About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Set and deliver the communications strategy for the Enterprise & Growth portfolio
  • Identify where communications can make a difference and lead programs from recommendation through execution and evaluation
  • Advise senior leaders and shape leadership updates, narratives, and presentations
  • Recommend framing, timing, and delivery while maintaining accuracy, clarity, and transparency
  • Develop communications plans for leadership transitions, organizational changes, and evolving business priorities
  • Partner with People, Legal, External Communications, and cross-functional partners
  • Explain decisions, prepare leadership, and address likely employee questions
  • Lead company-wide user and customer storytelling programs
  • Show how people and organizations use OpenAI technology and what employees can learn from their experiences
  • Develop creative formats that encourage engagement and spark ideas
  • Synthesize employee questions and feedback from Slack, leadership forums, and other channels
  • Recommend responses and assess whether communications improve understanding, morale, and trust
  • Adapt communications as priorities and information change
  • Keep stakeholders informed about decisions and next steps
  • Contribute to shared priorities and strengthen the broader Internal Communications function

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in internal or executive communications, marketing communications, operations, or a related field
  • Demonstrated ownership of complex communications programs
  • People Management experience: 1–2 years minimum required
  • Experience advising senior leaders
  • Ability to build trust through preparation, discretion, and strategic recommendations
  • Excellent writing and editorial judgment
  • Ability to explain business strategy and complicated decisions clearly
  • Ability to adapt to different leadership voices
  • Ability to produce strong work on a short timeline and incorporate detailed feedback
  • Curiosity about how businesses grow and how people use technology
  • Strong program leadership, ownership, and adaptability
  • Ability to bring structure to ambiguous work and execute with limited direction
  • Sound judgment and resilience under pressure
  • Ability to work from a US office three days per week
  • Ability to handle sensitive, confidential, and consequential work with care
