About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead and develop the Professional Services sourcing team
- Set team objectives, expectations, delegation boundaries, feedback, performance reviews and development plans
- Set the Professional Services portfolio strategy and roadmap
- Guide category plans and supplier/service-delivery model decisions
- Manage the team's pipeline and capacity across strategic negotiations, supplier governance and recurring statements of work
- Allocate work by capability, complexity and risk; establish priorities and recovery plans
- Personally lead selected critical negotiations and set commercial-quality standards
- Review negotiation strategies and assumptions covering scope, pricing, deliverables, acceptance criteria, change controls, audit rights and exit protections
- Build intake, tiering, preferred-partner models, playbooks and review pathways
- Strengthen supplier relationships and accountability through segmentation, competition, performance reviews and improvement plans
- Partner with Finance and Accounting on spend visibility, forecasting, approvals and invoice-to-contract alignment
- Partner with Legal, People and Extended Workforce on service models and workforce-related risk
- Establish portfolio and team performance reporting covering commercial and service outcomes, pipeline health, cycle time, risk, stakeholder experience and team capability
- Build senior stakeholder relationships, challenge demand and supplier preferences, resolve trade-offs and escalate decisions with recommendations
- Use approved AI tools and lead adoption of improved sourcing workflows for supplier research, proposal analysis, negotiation preparation and reporting
Requirements
What you’ll need- 10+ years of progressive strategic sourcing, procurement or category management experience
- Substantial depth across multiple Professional Services categories and ownership from strategy through supplier performance
- 5+ years of people leadership experience, including formal responsibility for objectives, performance, development and delegation
- Experience personally leading complex services negotiations
- Understanding of consulting, advisory, managed services and project-based commercial models
- Experience with large multidisciplinary firms such as the Big Four and specialist providers
- Breadth across areas such as finance, accounting, legal, healthcare or benefits-related services
- Sound judgement on workforce boundaries
- Experience turning category strategies into practical operating improvements
- Ability to influence senior stakeholders through trust, structured thinking and concise communication
- Strong financial and analytical judgement using spend, supplier and performance data
- Ability to lead through ambiguity, rapid change and limited structure
- Practical experience using AI to redesign sourcing work and help others adopt it
- Ability to create an inclusive team environment with clear expectations, constructive feedback and respectful challenge
