About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Support the growth and maturation of OpenAI for Government’s business operations and revenue strategy function
- Help four vertical leaders develop annual business strategies covering target customers, priority projects, partners, and support from matrixed teams
- Build and maintain intelligence on mission priorities, budget lines, program timelines, incumbents, competitive positions, and award-shaping stakeholders
- Participate in weekly team discussions to understand the business, test assumptions, and identify risks
- Run quarterly reviews to track progress, reassess goals, and adjust priorities
- Partner with the industrial security team to forecast secure-space needs and plan SCIF buildouts
- Coordinate personnel access nominations and track contract-specific security requirements and restrictions
- Support the Government Innovation Network and advisory board across advisor outreach, selection, 1099 agreements, conflict reviews, payment, and onboarding
- Design and run advisor meetings, quarterly strategy sessions, and targeted convenings
- Prepare agendas and materials, execute follow-through, and integrate advisor insights into strategy
- Own special projects by defining problems, developing options, building consensus, and leading early execution
Requirements
What you’ll need- Experience in strategy consulting, business operations, a growing technology company, or comparable work combining analytical problem-solving with ownership of execution
- Ability to build financial models, size markets, assess competitive positions, and translate incomplete data into recommendations with clear assumptions and tradeoffs
- Comfortable interpreting government budgets and using market intelligence sources such as Janes
- Ability to create compelling executive presentations and write concise memos connecting numbers, strategic choices, and recommended actions
- Ability to define unfamiliar problems, learn new technologies and markets quickly, and make progress without a fully formed brief
- Ability to move between strategic analysis, business operations, and detailed project delivery
- Ability to build trust with executives, government stakeholders, advisors, and technical specialists, and influence across functions without formal authority
- Strong judgment and discretion in sensitive relationships, personnel matters, compensation, and security-related work
- Comfortable managing budgets, vendors, contractors, and competing deadlines
- Curiosity about government missions, procurement, policy, and funding
- Direct public-sector, defense, or national-security experience is valuable
- Willingness to travel periodically for advisor convenings, agency or customer engagements, and operational projects
- Commitment to responsibly deploying frontier AI to support government missions
