About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Initiates, develops, and implements intermediate nursing plan of care treatments and evaluates patient progress
  • Organizes and participates in direct patient care, performs treatments, administers medications, and educates patients and families/caregivers
  • Modifies treatment plans in response to changing patient status or physician orders
  • Assesses patient needs and physical status at each skilled visit
  • Obtains and clarifies physician orders and informs physicians of significant changes
  • Provides training and mentorship to Infusion Nurse I’s
  • Teaches patients and families to achieve independence with prescribed therapy and care needs
  • Communicates with clinical teams, medical providers, patients, and caregivers to facilitate continuity of care
  • Prepares real-time clinical documentation and submits it within established timelines
  • Coordinates discharge planning and prepares discharge summaries
  • Complies with agency operations, policies, professional standards, regulations, and accreditation standards
  • Uses computers and automation technologies to validate treatment orders, communicate care provided, and follow assigned visit schedules
  • Responds to patient requests and initiates emergency procedures as necessary
  • Safeguards confidential patient and proprietary information in accordance with HIPAA
  • Explains Option Care’s services and related financial obligations to patients
  • Completes training, in-services, and continuing education
  • Provides oversight and coordination of paraprofessionals and may act as Supervisor when applicable
  • Participates in multidisciplinary conferences, precepting, training, mentoring, and nursing department on-call responsibilities
  • Inserts PICC/Midlines per physician order when applicable
  • Troubleshoots and declots obstructed central line catheters when applicable
  • Monitors PICC/Midlines and educates on line infection prevention and routine care when applicable

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Active and unrestricted RN license in the state of practice
  • Minimum of 1 years of nursing experience
  • Current CPR certification required
  • Demonstrated competency in patient care standards required for safe delivery of services and infusion skill sets applicable to agency programs and service needs
  • Advanced certification and training as applicable
  • Required licensure to operate a motor vehicle in the state of practice with access to a vehicle for business travel with proof of liability insurance
  • Basic knowledge of computer operating systems and software applications
  • Ability to apply knowledge in the effective use of nursing technology tools to communicate and document care provided
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds with a maximum lifting of 75 pounds
  • Willing to travel up to 100% of the time for business purposes
  • Closed toe-shoes, facemask, goggles, gown and/or gloves and functioning device for communication in both routine and emergency situations
  • Occupational exposure to blood, body fluids and other potentially infectious materials and other listed hazards
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing as granted by an accredited school of nursing preferred
  • 1-2 years of previous infusion nursing experience preferred
