About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Develop, analyze, and recommend audits and streamlining efforts for daily payroll operations
  • Serve as subject matter expert and advise the payroll team on process changes
  • Answer payroll questions from the field and meet all deadlines
  • Research company policies and tools to provide accurate and timely answers
  • Assist with bi-weekly payroll processing and special projects
  • Maintain confidentiality of handled material
  • Perform internal audits across Payroll, HR-OPS, and Benefits
  • Work with vendors to ensure requested tasks are completed accurately and timely
  • Analyze and respond to complex payroll matters and authorize policy exceptions within defined limits
  • Develop procedures and policies for payroll operations and coordinate approved system changes
  • Update affected policy and procedure manuals
  • Conduct root-cause analysis and lead process improvement initiatives
  • Advise coworkers and management on complex Payroll, Benefits, and HR issues
  • Research and interpret complex technical information
  • Escalate issues appropriately and complete objectives with minimal supervision
  • Build trusted partnerships with counterparts and key stakeholders

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • At least 3 years of experience in processing payroll containing multiple entities and over 5,000 employees
  • Alternatively, a combination of relevant experience in Benefits or HRIS and Payroll with a minimum of 5 years total experience, with employee population over 5,000, may be acceptable
  • Working knowledge of payroll principles, practices, regulations and procedures, including tax, garnishment and compliance
  • Experience providing customer service to internal and external customers
  • Experience communicating verbally and in writing to various audiences
  • Prior experience with outside vendors
  • Time management skills, including prioritizing, organizing, tracking details, and meeting multiple deadlines
  • Intermediate-level Microsoft Office skills, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Experience developing ways of accomplishing goals with minimal supervision and determining when escalation is necessary
