About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Train classroom staff, coordinators, and supervisors in proactive classroom management techniques
- Develop and facilitate trainings on early childhood mental health and behavior interventions
- Provide direct mental health services, consultation, and management to staff, students, and families
- Conduct consultation meetings, observations, assessments, and therapeutic activities
- Support development and implementation of individualized behavior plans
- Complete required documentation according to organizational procedures
- Collaborate with Early Learning, School-age, Inclusion, and Family Engagement teams
- Support referrals for community-based services and resources
- Communicate with community partners, families, and staff
- Provide interventions during mental health or behavioral crises, including mandated reporting situations
- Maintain records and track mental health referrals and services
- Review documentation and provide feedback as part of the department management team
- Report data to program and organizational leadership
- Maintain compliance with federal and state regulations
- Identify training needs using gathered data
- Assist managers, directors, the vice president of center-based programs, and the chief program officer
- Implement organizational and program policies and procedures
- Complete assigned paperwork and documentation accurately and timely
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Master’s degree or higher in marriage and family therapy, psychology, social work, child development, or a related behavioral science field
- Clinical licensure as an LMFT, LCSW, LPCC, or psychologist in California (preferred)
- Full compliance with all professional continuing education requirements to maintain the license
- Two years of experience working with children (from newborn to age 5)
- Knowledge of early development and work experience in group settings with children
- Understanding of early childhood mental health consultation and ability to utilize the principles of the consultative stance
- Experience developing and presenting workshops for adults
- Must complete mandated reporter certification training, renewed every two years
- Health screening and TB clearance, renewed every five years
- Successful background screening
- Command of Spanish, Cantonese, Mandarin, or Vietnamese (preferred)
- Ability to correctly and effectively communicate in written and oral English
- California driver’s license, daily use of an automobile, and automobile liability insurance
