About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Own the reliability and lifecycle of edge racks, including server hardware, network equipment, custom Linux-based OS, and GPU-enabled Kubernetes
Design and improve fleet provisioning automation for 50+ edge clusters using Terraform, BMC/IPMI, and router APIs
Maintain secure networking between edge deployments and the central cloud
Maintain tooling for safe software delivery to the fleet
Participate in weekday support rotation and triage and resolve escalated production issues
Lead post-incident reviews and implement lasting automated fixes
Define and monitor SLOs, SLIs, and SLAs for unattended physical edge systems
Extend observability using Prometheus, hardware exporters, Grafana, and Datadog
Set technical direction for edge infrastructure projects
Contribute to technical planning and ticket writing
Mentor engineers through pairing, design reviews, code reviews, and knowledge sharing
Act as the top-level technical escalation point for complex support and production issues
Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and maintain technical alignment
Automate repetitive manual work and improve internal tooling

Requirements

What you’ll need

Super proficient in maintaining Kubernetes on edge machines
Fluency in at least one modern language, such as Golang or Python
Deep understanding of Prometheus and Grafana
Proficiency with Terraform
Deep proficiency in Linux-based systems
Experience with server hardware, including RAID controllers, BIOS, and booting
Good understanding of release systems
Proficiency with GitOps tools such as Argo CD
Proficiency in certificate management and secure network tunnels such as IPSec/VPN
Deep understanding of routers, switches, servers, BIOS, and TPM modules
Proven experience designing and implementing bare-metal infrastructure provisioning automation
Expert-level Terraform proficiency
Comfortable working hybrid with regular days in the Munich office
Work authorization or visa sponsorship considerations for Germany
