About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Obtain meal orders from patients and visitors by telephone and enter them into the CBORD computer system
  • Verify meal orders against diet-order parameters using EPIC
  • Review EPIC medication records for significant food interactions and notify nursing staff when necessary
  • Process diet requisitions and reports comparing food ordered with meal orders
  • Accurately document and maintain current information in manual and computerized systems
  • Coordinate Communication Center processes with Production, Tray Line, and Meal Service Associates
  • Liaise between Food & Nutrition, patients, and nursing units
  • Perform arithmetic computations for tube feeding and infant formula
  • Respond to patient and staff inquiries about the OHSU Room Service Program
  • Direct inquiries, explain processes and procedures, provide service information, and route incoming calls
  • Provide high-quality customer service to patients, healthcare providers, and staff
  • Participate in conflict reconciliation between physician-ordered diets and patient preferences

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Associate’s degree or certification in general office occupations or office technology and 1 year of call center or customer service experience; OR bachelor’s degree and 6 months of call center or customer service experience; OR equivalent education and experience
  • Experience in call center or customer service
  • Experience in food service or food-related industry
  • Knowledge of English sufficient for telephone and written communication with patients and staff
  • Ability to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division with a calculator
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced production office environment
  • Excellent customer service and service recovery skills
  • Ability to handle high-volume phones during peak meal times and multitask across reports, menu entry, nutrition products, and supplements
  • Ability to use multiple software/applications simultaneously
  • Ability to perform essential functions with or without accommodation
  • Preferred: knowledge of EPIC electronic medical record and CBORD or other foodservice computer software
  • Preferred: knowledge of percentages and fractions
  • Must pass a drug test
