About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Design, develop, and maintain virtual applications and virtual desktops for OHSU’s healthcare, academic, and research missions
Design, develop, and maintain high-availability infrastructure, clustered systems, and server farms for enterprise virtual environments
Serve as technical leader for complex development projects and contribute to system proposals
Ensure systems follow industry standards and best practices
Design, develop, and maintain remote access, remote control, and monitoring tools
Develop disaster response plans and recovery procedures; participate in disaster recovery exercises
Analyze business processes, upgrades, patches, risks, system performance, scalability, and functionality
Evaluate or develop tools and scripts to support maintenance and improve the environment
Define technical documentation, operational concepts, system architectures, requirements, specifications, and configurations
Research emerging technologies and recommend system enhancements and equipment upgrades
Administer remote delivery and virtualization systems, including maintenance, configuration, monitoring, tuning, security, and accounts
Provide Tier III on-call support for large mission-critical systems in 24x7 production environments
Develop patch management, backup, notification, standard operating procedure, and operational practice processes
Assist with hardware evaluation, installation, configuration, monitoring, and vendor troubleshooting
Support unit, integration, load, performance, system, and migration testing
Perform system recovery and security breach mitigation
Participate in project management, security administration, professional development, mentoring, and training

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Computer Science or related field, and three years of progressively responsible Information Technology related experience; OR equivalent alternative educational experience including approved coursework, professional certifications, vendor training, and seven years of documented professional experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience
Vendor certifications in appropriate technologies as required (Citrix, VMware, Microsoft)
Experience with Application Virtualization and Desktop Virtualization
Experience with technologies used to deliver virtual desktop and application solutions
Experience designing, implementing, and supporting new systems and infrastructure independently
Experience supporting large mission-critical systems/applications in multiple production environments
Experience with data center virtualization technologies
Experience with networking protocols
Experience installing, maintaining, patching, and troubleshooting Microsoft server and workstation operating systems
Experience with Microsoft file/directory security, group policy, and scripting technologies
Enterprise experience with Microsoft Active Directory and LDAP services
Experience with crash analysis and troubleshooting
Experience installing and configuring applications
Advanced knowledge of virtual application and virtual desktop solutions
Intermediate knowledge of image creation and deployment technologies
Advanced broad-based IT technical generalist skills
Systems analysis and root cause analysis skills
Advanced knowledge of Windows architecture, configuration, administration, and security
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory and LDAP interfaces
Intermediate knowledge of scripting/programming languages such as PowerShell
Advanced knowledge of IT security and software quality assurance best practices
Intermediate knowledge of project management, change control management, Microsoft Office Suite, and antivirus administration
