About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Direct clinical operations, staffing, patient access, team performance, and the clinic environment for an assigned OPA therapy clinic
- Oversee daily clinic operations and serve as the primary contact for operational and staff concerns
- Ensure the clinic is safe, clean, functional, appropriately equipped, and ready for patient care
- Maintain inventory of clinical and office supplies and coordinate linen and laundry needs
- Coordinate equipment and facility repairs with Facilities Management
- Partner with front-desk leadership on scheduling, patient flow, communication, and operational issues
- Implement department initiatives, workflows, policies, technology, quality programs, and operational changes
- Maintain appropriate staffing coverage during scheduled clinic hours
- Keep provider schedules current in NextGen and approve schedule blocks according to guidelines and patient access needs
- Identify staffing needs and communicate recommendations to the Director of Therapy Services
- Work with HR to update employment agreements when provider hours change
- Provide administrative supervision and direction for assigned clinic personnel
- Onboard new providers, including orientation to workflows, staff, NextGen/EMR, documentation standards, productivity expectations, procedures, and culture
- Lead staff mentorship, clinical development, career development, and growth opportunities
- Complete quarterly coaching conversations with all staff
- Monitor clinic and provider productivity and address barriers to expectations
- Provide performance-based compensation and advancement recommendations to the Director of Therapy Services
- Review and approve continuing education requests
- Ensure medically necessary, evidence-based patient evaluation, treatment, and management
- Complete chart audits for compliance
- Maintain a clinical caseload and complete required documentation within 72 hours
- Maintain open communication with coworkers, physicians, patients, families, and third-party payers
- Respond to patient and family concerns and escalate significant concerns to the Director
- Attend department meetings and perform other assigned duties
- Provide day-to-day leadership, coaching, scheduling oversight, performance management, and operational oversight for clinic personnel
Requirements
What you’ll need- Graduate of a physical therapy or physical therapist assistant program accredited by CAPTE, or an occupational therapy or occupational therapy assistant program accredited by ACOTE
- Minimum three years of experience as an orthopedic PT, PTA, OT, or COTA
- Current Alaska license in good standing as a PT, PTA, OT, or COTA
- Demonstrated commitment to professional development and growth as a clinical and organizational leader
- Working knowledge of outpatient orthopedic therapy practice
- Working knowledge of therapy documentation, medical necessity, and payer requirements
- Leadership skills sufficient to direct and supervise staff in delivering quality patient care
- Clear, concise, and organized verbal and written communication
- Strong organizational, time management, and planning skills
- Effective clinical problem-solving
- Computer skills sufficient to manage patient records, management reports, and billing
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team, set clear expectations, interact effectively with patients and families, work independently, and prioritize effectively
- Ability to lift and transfer patients frequently and safely using proper body mechanics
- Ability to walk, bend, stand, reach, push wheeled equipment, and use fine motor skills throughout the workday
- Current Alaska license in good standing as a PT, PTA, OT, or COTA
- Preferred: prior clinical management or supervisory experience, preferably in an outpatient therapy setting
- Preferred: experience with NextGen or a comparable EMR, including scheduling and productivity reporting
- Typical availability Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., or other approved hours between 6:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m.; occasional extended hours may be required
- Periodic travel to other OPA therapy locations and required department meetings
