About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Contribute a clinical and scientific perspective to the local execution plan addressing customer challenges, issues, and opportunities
  • Coordinate execution of field activities
  • Build, cultivate, and leverage relationships with key scientific and medical customers and organizations within the territory
  • Engage Key Influencers, Local Practice Leaders, Key Decision Makers, healthcare providers, and patient advocacy organizations
  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the ecosystem and align activities with Otsuka’s patient-centric strategy
  • Provide evidence-based clinical, economic, and humanistic information about Otsuka and its products
  • Partner with providers and stakeholders to apply real-world solutions that improve patient outcomes
  • Build internal working relationships across the matrix team and execute local medical strategies
  • Disseminate disease-state and healthcare-landscape information to customers
  • Provide clinical and data-focused training for promotional and disease-state speakers
  • Serve on Otsuka’s speaker bureau as needed
  • Collect and submit medical insights to drive decision-making and evidence-generation priorities
  • Assist with clinical trials, health economic outcomes research, and medical collaborations
  • Provide clinical expertise and feedback on clinical-trial site selection and performance
  • Mentor peers and new hires
  • Support Safety & Pharmacovigilance, Sales Training medical education, and the Field Medical Center of Excellence

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • MD/DO, PharmD, or PhD in life sciences, or Master's degree with equivalent psychiatry or CNS clinical experience
  • Minimum 2 years of pharmaceutical medical affairs or relevant work experience
  • Understanding of the interconnectivity of health systems and overall delivery of patient care
  • Experience working with healthcare professionals and other decision makers
  • Strong business acumen and knowledge of the industry, Otsuka's business model and value proposition, key competitors, and marketplace factors/dynamics
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Strong conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to lead others and project teams strategically
  • Ability to summarize and communicate complex information and business objectives concisely and effectively
  • Strong understanding of industry legal, regulatory, and compliance landscape
  • Ability to work in an ambiguous environment undergoing transformation
  • Demonstrated behaviors aligned with Otsuka Corporate Brand, including Perseverance, Unconventional Thinking, and Humility
  • Ability to travel by air or car up to 70% of the time
  • Preferred living location is a key city in the territory
