About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Generate and manage leads and foster relationships with potential clients
  • Develop, cultivate and manage client accounts to convert relationships into outcomes aligned with strategic sales goals
  • Assist Business Events and Marketing teams in building destination brand awareness
  • Identify accounts and opportunities for Ottawa Tourism members and maintain member relationships
  • Prepare customized bid proposals, conduct bid presentations and liaise with bid stakeholders
  • Plan, manage and host client site inspections and familiarization tours
  • Provide feedback for quarterly and annual sales goals
  • Serve as subject matter expert in assigned markets
  • Assist in developing and executing organizational projects and initiatives
  • Help define and champion the Business Events team’s strategic goals, operational priorities and long-term vision
  • Collaborate with Ottawa Tourism colleagues and external stakeholders
  • Manage stakeholder relations to maximize impact and success
  • Represent Ottawa Tourism as an ambassador at external events

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Post-secondary education in a relevant discipline (Business Administration, Marketing, Communications or Finance)
  • 5 years’ experience in sales, ideally in Business Events
  • Comfortable with cross-cultural communication and international business norms and standards
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software
  • Comfortable working with CRM platforms and other required technologies
  • Highly developed written, verbal, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work with limited supervision, multitask and meet sales targets
  • Proven ability to build partnerships and collaborative, long-term working relationships
  • Demonstrated sales experience in Canadian, US, or international markets
  • Ability to work outside normal business hours
  • Ability and eligibility to travel internationally and maintain a regular domestic and international travel schedule
  • Demonstrated experience and skill managing projects throughout the entire project life cycle
  • Bilingual English and French is an asset
  • Additional language capabilities are preferred
  • Any additional relevant educational qualifications or training are assets
