About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Own day-to-day accounting operations, including the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash management, and payroll accounting
Run a disciplined month-end close
Deliver accurate, timely, and audit-ready financial statements with insightful analysis
Serve as primary liaison with external auditors and tax advisors
Drive completion of the annual GAAP audit, 401(k) audit, and related compliance
Manage ASC 606 revenue recognition, capitalized software, and stock compensation under ASC 718/409A
Reconcile payment-partner activity to internal data and bank records, including interchange, rebates, and restricted cash
Ensure transaction revenue is properly recognized
Build and maintain internal controls and financial policies
Oversee entity compliance, state registrations, registered agents, and insurance renewals
Manage cash flow forecasting, banking relationships, and intercompany funding across multiple entities
Maintain an audit-ready and diligence-ready finance function, including data room, quality-of-earnings support, EBITDA adjustment schedules, and buyer-scrutiny documentation
Identify and implement automation and AI tools to reduce manual work, add insights, and shorten the close
Lead and develop the accounting team and build leverage and growth paths
Manage third-party vendor and partner relationships supporting the SaaS platform, including evaluating costs and service quality
Report to the Chief Financial Officer and work closely with FP&A, Billing, Payments, HR, and Senior Leadership

Requirements

What you’ll need

10+ years of progressive accounting experience
Proven experience as a Controller or Assistant Controller at a standalone company, not only at a divisional level
Can-do attitude and willingness to roll up sleeves
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work effectively with senior leadership, hold stakeholders accountable, and communicate financial information clearly to non-finance stakeholders
Proactive ownership and judgment in improving the department and company
Detail-oriented and able to balance precision with practicality
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
CPA strongly preferred
Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, including ASC 606
SaaS, payments, or FinTech experience preferred
Track record of managing external audits and serving as the primary auditor liaison
Due diligence or quality-of-earnings experience is a plus
Hands-on experience leading accounts payable operations
Experience selecting or implementing AP automation platforms is a plus
Experience implementing and optimizing finance systems, including ERP, close management, and spend management
Demonstrated appetite to adopt AI and automation
