About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Serve as technical lead for mobile across iOS and Android
- Partner with product managers, designers and stakeholders to turn roadmap ideas into mobile features
- Guide feature work hands-on across both platforms, shaping requirements into technical designs, reviewing designs and code, and unblocking engineers
- Estimate and plan features with product and engineering managers, including milestones, sizing, sequencing, dependencies and risks
- Drive delivery from kickoff through App Store and Google Play release
- Own a predictable release process, including branching, release cuts, promotion, regression and go/no-go decisions
- Set multi-year technical direction and plan modernization for both mobile applications
- Define the mobile delivery platform, including code signing, CI test gates, release automation, staged rollouts and release-health metrics
- Own mobile operational excellence, including crash symbolication, logging standards, release dashboards, on-call practices and incident reviews
- Raise security, privacy, accessibility and localization standards
- Coordinate with Voice, Identity, Platform and Client Architecture teams on calling, authentication, push notifications, feature flags and GraphQL systems
- Mentor engineers, conduct technical reviews and interviews, and contribute to new initiatives
Requirements
What you’ll need- 10+ years of professional software development experience, with 8+ years building and shipping native mobile apps
- Deep expertise in at least one native platform: iOS (Swift, UIKit, SwiftUI, Swift Concurrency) and Android (Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, Coroutines and Flow), with production experience on the other
- Hands-on experience shipping on both iOS and Android
- Track record as technical lead for feature teams, translating ambiguous product requirements into designs, estimates and plans
- Experience delivering multi-quarter roadmaps on both platforms against committed dates
- Experience planning and coordinating execution across multiple teams, managing dependencies, surfacing blockers, reprioritizing and reporting status and risk
- Track record leading modernization of large, long-lived mobile codebases through architecture migrations, modularization and test strategy
- Strong knowledge of mobile release engineering, branching and release-train models, code signing, CI/CD, App Store and Google Play review, staged rollouts and crash monitoring
- Strong knowledge of mobile security and privacy, including OAuth/OIDC on device, Keychain, Android Keystore and store privacy requirements
- Clear written and verbal communication for design documents, plans and trade-off write-ups
- Ability to uphold technical and cultural standards for code quality, accessibility, performance, testing and operational excellence
- Experience with real-time voice on mobile, such as Twilio Voice, CallKit/PushKit or Android ConnectionService is a plus
- Experience with enterprise mobility, such as Microsoft Intune App Protection and MSAL is a plus
- Experience with GraphQL clients at scale on mobile, such as Apollo iOS and Apollo Kotlin is a plus
