About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide Environmental, Health, and Safety support to laboratory R&D operations
  • Conduct monthly safety surveys, present monthly safety focuses, enter surveys into the database, track data, and ensure findings are closed out
  • Initiate, follow up on, and complete incident and injury documentation
  • Complete WIMS investigations, identify root causes, document preventive measures, and update management on causal analysis and corrective actions
  • Problem-solve and troubleshoot waste logistics
  • Verify Waste Stream Profiles and Waste Inventory are active and accurate
  • Ensure waste labels are correct and accurate
  • Implement waste storage and handling procedures
  • Assist with hazardous waste and materials disposal during laboratory cleanouts
  • Complete pre- and post-work Hazard Review documentation and identify processes requiring review
  • Participate in monthly Tech Forum Lab Safety meetings and communicate EHS updates to committees
  • Provide respirator fit tests
  • Conduct machine guarding assessments
  • Support lab commissioning, including EHS readiness, equipment startup, pre-startup safety reviews, lab moves, and lab exits
  • Maintain active communication with customer personnel

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Chemistry, Biology, or related field
  • EHS and/or Chemistry experience, 1+ year
  • OSHA 30 and/or Hazwoper 40 preferred
  • Ability to identify improvement opportunities, develop plans to close gaps, garner management support for key initiatives, and track improvement initiatives to closure
  • Risk analysis skills, including hazard and risk identification, assessment, and controls
  • Ability to communicate risks and methods to reduce risk
  • Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and prioritize work effectively
  • May require compliance with U.S. Export Control Laws and restrictions concerning non-U.S. persons
