About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Facilitate the movement of export and import cargo and maintain customer satisfaction
- Respond immediately to customer inquiries
- Provide timely information to Customs and terminals, as well as paperwork and electronic data to various locations
- Provide shipping documentation support and ensure accurate, timely issuance of shipping documents
- Handle all documentation matters covering export and import processes and follow up on port and customs processes
- Transmit manifests, corrections, retransmissions, and cargo releases
- Coordinate with ports, warehouses, shipping lines, freight forwarders, customs, and back-office shared service centers
- Ensure accurate and timely completion of shipping documents to facilitate customer release
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders and Shared Services Centers to complete and release documents, reduce errors, and increase productivity
- Submit Customs references on time and gather required information before cut-off dates
- Ensure charges are invoiced promptly and invoicing procedures are followed
- Close vessels and complete manifests
- Maintain current knowledge of export and import customs requirements and ensure compliance
- Monitor exceptions and ensure back-office queries are handled promptly
- Monitor outstanding revenue and coordinate with involved parties to ensure shipments are invoiced correctly and on time
- Process shipment-related exceptions in LMS
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in International Business, Logistics, or related field
- Experience in customer service within the shipping or logistics industry
- Experience in sea shipping documentation
- Knowledge of Ecuadorian customs laws and regulations
- Previous experience with documentation processing software
- Proficiency in preparing all types of Bills of Lading (MBL and HBL)
- Experience validating cargo and shipment information
- Intermediate spoken English and strong technical written English
- Availability to work operational/logistics schedules
- Knowledge of maritime and air import and export operations
- Knowledge of Incoterms and documents related to import and export operations
- Organized and able to follow regulations and procedures in a strictly regulated environment
- Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
- Team spirit and adaptability
- Proficiency in MS Office
- Customer-centric mindset with excellent communication skills
- Ability to multitask and handle high-pressure situations
- Familiarity with shipping and logistics software
- Proactive and solution-oriented approach
- Team player with a collaborative attitude
- Brazilian nationality or current legal right to work in Brazil
