About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide leadership and oversight to the nursing team
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and quality standards
- Oversee staffing, scheduling, clinical operations, and department staffing levels
- Lead quality improvement initiatives and participate in QA and Utilization Review
- Collaborate with physicians, families, and interdisciplinary teams
- Promote a positive, team-oriented culture
- Manage the nursing department and supervise the ADON and nursing staff
- Develop and implement nursing policies and procedures
- Ensure resident safety, respect, and confidentiality
- Develop and conduct in-services for clinical staff
- Recruit, hire, and train nursing staff
- Coordinate pharmacy services and medication destruction
- Serve as liaison between the facility, physicians, and family members
- Prepare for and participate in state surveys and required follow-up
- Coordinate MDS and care planning
- Conduct employee appraisals and resolve disciplinary matters and terminations
- Manage department budgeting and reporting
- Provide direct hands-on resident/patient care as needed
Requirements
What you’ll need- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license, required
- Previous long-term care or skilled nursing leadership experience
- Strong knowledge of regulatory standards
- Excellent communication and team-building skills
- Proven ability to lead and inspire clinical staff
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
- Must be in good standing with the State Board of Nursing
- Must maintain all required continuing education and licensing requirements
- Minimum of 7 years nurse management experience preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite products and Point Click Care (PCC)
- Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds
- Ability to travel by auto or airline as required
