About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide direct nursing care to residents
- Supervise day-to-day nursing activities performed by nursing assistants
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, local, and facility standards, guidelines, and regulations
- Coordinate nursing services with other resident services
- Admit, transfer, and discharge residents
- Complete clinical records, charts, reports, care plans, and incident documentation
- Prepare and administer physician-ordered medications and treatments
- Maintain medication, narcotic, supply, and equipment records and inventories
- Conduct nursing rounds and monitor resident condition and care delivery
- Coordinate diagnostic and therapeutic services
- Perform professional nursing services including catheterization, tube feedings, suction, wound dressing changes, specimen collection, vital signs, and range-of-motion exercises
- Notify physicians and next of kin of accidents, incidents, or changes in resident condition
- Participate in quality assurance, facility surveys, infection control, safety, and sanitation programs
- Develop assignments, provide leadership, and evaluate nursing personnel
- Participate in staff orientation, in-service training, and continuing education
- Review and update resident care plans and assist with MDS/RAPs and triggers
- Maintain liaison with residents, families, medical staff, support departments, and government agencies
- Work night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM and may work beyond normal hours or be called back during emergencies
Requirements
What you’ll need- Nursing Degree from an accredited college or university, or graduation from an approved LPN/LVN program
- Current, unencumbered, active South Carolina LPN/LVN license
- Current CPR certification
- Must maintain required continuing education/licensing
- Must remain in good standing with the State Board of Nursing
- English language proficiency: read, write, speak, and understand English
- Ability to work 12-hour shifts and weekends
- Experience in a fast-paced, high-admissions healthcare setting preferred
- Knowledge and experience with PCC preferred
- Ability to apply fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions
- Knowledge of nursing and medical practices, procedures, and applicable laws, regulations, and guidelines
- Leadership and supervisory ability
- Ability to move intermittently and lift/push/pull/carry at least 25 pounds to a minimum height of 5 feet and distance of 50 feet
- Must meet the facility’s general health requirements, including medical and physical examination
- Ability to work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and sometimes hostile people
