About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Supervise day-to-day nursing activities during the assigned shift
  • Provide exceptional nursing care to residents
  • Assess, monitor, document, and report resident conditions
  • Administer medications and treatments; monitor medication passes and treatment schedules
  • Collaborate with physicians, therapists, CNAs, and the interdisciplinary care team
  • Admit, transfer, and discharge residents
  • Make resident rounds and provide direct nursing care as necessary
  • Start IVs and obtain specimens for laboratory tests
  • Develop, review, and update resident assessments and care plans
  • Assist with discharge planning and transportation arrangements
  • Assist the Director of Nursing with nursing department operations, policies, procedures, reports, and quality assurance
  • Supervise, schedule, delegate to, evaluate, and support nursing staff
  • Participate in facility committees, surveys, in-service training, infection control, safety, and disaster preparedness programs
  • Maintain adequate nursing supplies, equipment, medications, and safe work areas
  • Communicate with residents, families, physicians, staff, visitors, and government agencies
  • Report incidents, exposures, fraud, and information-security violations
  • Help lead and mentor nursing staff while promoting quality care

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Nursing Degree from an accredited college or university
  • Training in rehabilitative and restorative nursing practices
  • 2 years or more experience, preferably in a long-term care facility
  • Current, unencumbered, active license to practice as an RN in South Carolina
  • Current CPR certification
  • Must maintain required continuing education/licensing
  • Must remain in good standing with the State Board of Nursing
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English
  • Knowledgeable of nursing and medical practices, procedures, laws, regulations, and guidelines for nursing care facilities
  • Ability to work with residents, personnel, visitors, government agencies, and the general public
  • Ability to move intermittently throughout the workday and lift, push, pull, move, or carry at least 25 pounds
  • Must meet facility general health requirements, including medical and physical examination
  • Must be able to work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and sometimes hostile people
  • Knowledge and experience with PCC preferred
