About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Manage daily clinical operations of the assigned unit
- Lead, mentor, and support nursing staff
- Ensure high-quality resident care
- Maintain compliance with state and federal regulations
- Complete and oversee clinical documentation
- Collaborate with physicians, therapy, and interdisciplinary team members
- Communicate with residents and families about plans of care, PT, OT, and treatment protocols
- Attend morning meetings/stand-ups and facilitate team communication
- Answer residents’ questions about care, treatment plans, illness progression, and related issues
- Monitor and adjust resident statuses based on changing needs and conditions
- Organize and prioritize work for new, current, and discharging residents
- Perform utilization review activities
- Coordinate care with residents, providers, facility financial services, and third-party payers
- Oversee admissions and discharges
- Coordinate referrals to and from the facility
- Complete accurate charting and required paperwork
- Promote cooperation and collaboration among residents, families, physicians, nurses, and ancillary partners
Requirements
What you’ll need- Current RN license in good standing
- Prior Unit Manager and/or long-term care/skilled nursing leadership experience required
- Candidates without skilled nursing management experience will not be considered
- Strong knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid regulations and survey readiness
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or Social Work
- Licensed LVN or LPN nurse acceptable
- Two (2) year clinical nursing experience preferred
- Knowledge of Medicare, Medi-Cal and Medicaid programs and benefits
- PCC knowledge
- Ability to read technical procedures and policy/procedure manuals
- Intermediate computer skills
- Valid LVN/LPN or RN license in the state of employment
- Must maintain required continuing education/licensing and remain in good standing with the Department of Public Health
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently and perform required physical activities
