About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Assess, manage, and treat wounds, pressure injuries, skin tears, ulcers, and other dermatologic conditions
- Complete comprehensive skin assessments and quarterly dermatologic evaluations
- Develop individualized treatment plans with physicians, the Medical Director, Director of Nursing, therapy, dietary, and the Interdisciplinary Care Plan Team
- Provide accurate written and verbal reports on resident progress and wound healing
- Monitor wound healing, update care plans, and recommend treatment modifications
- Ensure pressure injury prevention interventions, including repositioning, nutrition support, skin protection, special mattresses, and nutritional supplements
- Provide direct nursing care and emergency care while promoting resident comfort and dignity
- Educate residents and families on wound prevention and treatment plans
- Participate in staff orientation, education, and in-service training
- Monitor wound care supplies and equipment inventory
- Maintain complete documentation and comply with federal, state, local, corporate, and facility regulations
- Protect resident privacy and comply with HIPAA requirements
- Report resident concerns, suspected abuse, safety issues, occupational exposures, information security concerns, and significant changes in condition
- Communicate with physicians, healthcare providers, residents, families, and nursing staff regarding care and treatment
- Assist physicians during visits and examinations
- Assist with supervision of nursing staff
- Participate in facility surveys and inspections as requested
- Report to and work under the Director of Nursing
Requirements
What you’ll need- Previous wound care experience; this is not an entry-level position
- Current, active, unrestricted RN license in good standing
- Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience
- Possession of a Nursing Degree from an accredited college or university
- Current CPR certification
- Ability to read technical procedures and comprehend policy and procedure manuals
- Ability to present information and respond to questions from managers and employees
- Ability to apply fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations
- Ability to solve practical problems and interpret written, oral, diagram, or schedule instructions
- Maintain required continuing education for licensing
- Remain in good standing with the State Board of Nursing
- Ability to meet physical demands including frequent standing/walking, pushing/pulling, and lifting up to 50 pounds
- Knowledge and experience with PCC preferred
