About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Work onsite and maintain regular contact with 2–4 strategic customer teams to deploy the SRE Agent
  • Configure tools and connectors and embed AI actions across customers’ incident management lifecycles
  • Scope, design, and build reusable agent tools, connectors, and skills
  • Ship agent capabilities through product repositories, review processes, and evaluation gates
  • Run pilots with strategic accounts and gather evaluation data
  • Identify technical blockers such as permissions, telemetry, and missing connectors
  • Build production fixes directly into the product
  • Integrate the SRE Agent with Terraform, Pulumi, ArgoCD, CI/CD pipelines, and observability platforms
  • Guide customers from AI-assisted operations toward supervised and autonomous operations with safety guardrails
  • Define 3–6 month technical roadmaps across assigned accounts
  • Provide architectural guidance to product managers and engineering managers
  • Bring customer friction and evaluation insights back to the core team
  • Contribute code to PagerDuty’s core SRE Agent product

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 8+ years of experience building and shipping production software across team boundaries
  • Hands-on experience with LLM and agent systems in production, including agent development, tool-use frameworks (MCP or equivalent), evaluation pipelines, and guardrail design
  • Customer-facing skills, including running technical design sessions and presenting business cases to leadership
  • Ability to work from vague problem statements and unfamiliar environments with limited direction
  • Record of shipping software that achieved adoption
  • Experience with Terraform or Pulumi at scale
  • Experience with GitOps, including ArgoCD or equivalent
  • CI/CD pipeline design experience
  • Experience with progressive delivery patterns such as canary, blue/green, and soak periods
  • Willingness to travel 25–50% during active customer engagements
  • Eligible residence in an approved location
  • Preferred: practical incident management and observability knowledge; customer-facing technical consulting, forward-deployed engineering, or solutions architecture experience; founder or founding engineer background; policy-as-code, fine-grained permissioning, or safety guardrail experience; PagerDuty or competing platform experience; open-source contributions to AI agent or MCP ecosystems
