About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Design, build, and own infrastructure behind Papaya’s games and features
- Set technical direction for shared platform services
- Build and own high-scale backend infrastructure powering Papaya’s products
- Lead solutions end to end from requirements and design through production and results measurement
- Drive architecture decisions and mentor developers through design and code reviews
- Own systems in production through actionable alerts, incident investigations, and root-cause analysis
- Build with AI using Claude Code and internal agent tooling
- Help shape shared team skills, connectors, and agent workflows
- Evaluate and adopt suitable technologies and frameworks
- Scale systems and reduce costs while handling heavy API traffic and event-related request spikes
- Partner with product squads, Client (Unity), Product, and BI teams
Requirements
What you’ll need- 4+ years of hands-on experience designing and building complex server applications
- Proven experience operating high-load systems in production
- B.Sc. in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
- Strong hands-on experience with a major cloud provider (AWS, GCP or Azure)
- Backend experience in Node.js, Java or C#
- Solid grasp of data modeling and caching (MySQL, Redis)
- Experience using AI coding agents (Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot or similar) in real production work
- Ability to break down tasks, provide agent context, and verify its output
- Proactive, problem-solving mindset and high standards for production-ready code
- Extensive experience with high-scale, high-throughput distributed systems
- Experience building platform services for other engineering teams
- Background in mobile gaming or large-scale B2C mobile platforms
- Experience with A/B tests, BI, and SQL analytics such as Snowflake
- Knowledge of client-side development in C#, such as Unity
- AWS, Kubernetes, Node.js, TypeScript, Redis, and MySQL knowledge
