About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide onsite system diagnostic and analytical support to customers within a geographic territory or assigned account
  • Respond to customer system failures through computer hardware service, testing, diagnostic analysis, and systems analysis
  • Service hardware, storage area networks, and system configurations across various OEM product lines
  • Respond to customer issues 24/7 and service equipment regardless of product training within the designated service area
  • Review machine logs internal to devices
  • Provide onsite technical customer support and timely, professional responses to customer service needs
  • Work shifts occurring at any time of day
  • Perform remote problem analysis before arriving at customer sites and determine required parts and documentation
  • Perform cost-effective repairs and maintain professional onsite conduct
  • Communicate with customers and the customer support center during repairs and delays
  • Analyze software and hardware error logs using diagnostic, troubleshooting, and operating system analysis techniques
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair hardware, storage area network, systems configuration, and compatibility problems
  • Use remote system connection tools for diagnosis, repair, and configuration changes
  • Follow customer-specific repair procedures
  • Assess current and future customer needs based on system usage
  • Determine required parts and quantities based on service contracts
  • Return defective or excess parts promptly
  • Maintain accurate daily and required inventory counts and perform bi-yearly physical inventory counts
  • Complete and return audit forms, email replies, timesheets, and expense reports
  • Attend regularly scheduled team meetings
  • Record activities using the Field Point time reporting utility
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Minimum five (5) years of specific experience working with OEM data center hardware
  • Successful prior field experience
  • Solid technical aptitude
  • Understanding of different OEM equipment and ability to learn new products and concepts
  • Ability to work long and/or unusual hours and manage being on call 24/7
  • Demonstrated customer service experience and ability to prioritize customer needs
  • Ability to work independently while exhibiting leadership and collaboration
  • CompTIA A+ certification required
  • CompTIA Server+ certification required
  • Valid driver’s license and appropriate driving record based on travel requirements
  • Ability to assume on-call status and respond according to service level agreements
  • Ability to maintain assigned regular working hours for site-specific assignments
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds and stand, walk, pull, lift, squat, reach, bend, and stoop for extended periods
  • Ability to perform active physical work for over 50% of the workday
  • Potential ability to work at height, including ladder use
  • Ability to pass customer background screenings and Park Place Technologies pre-employment screenings
  • High School Degree required
  • Ability to travel to client sites up to 75% of the time within a predetermined territory radius, including trips of up to 4+ hours one way by car
  • Preferred: certifications from major OEM computer hardware vendors such as Dell, IBM, or HP
  • Preferred: bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience
