About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support and execute the Bank's AML/CFT governance framework
  • Develop and maintain governance standards for policies, procedures, oversight routines, and escalation processes
  • Assist in managing AML/CFT governance committees and working groups
  • Assess AML/CFT processes and identify opportunities to improve program effectiveness
  • Support AML/CFT program issue management, corrective action plans, escalation, resolution, and remediation
  • Monitor and report financial crimes risks and control effectiveness
  • Support regulatory examinations, audits, and independent reviews
  • Monitor regulatory developments, enforcement actions, and industry trends
  • Lead day-to-day execution of the AML/CFT Quality Control program
  • Design, implement, and maintain a risk-based quality control framework
  • Identify control weaknesses, process inefficiencies, emerging risks, and improvement opportunities
  • Conduct trend analysis and root cause assessments
  • Establish quality standards, review methodologies, sampling protocols, and performance metrics
  • Monitor remediation efforts and validate corrective actions
  • Develop and communicate quality metrics and performance results
  • Manage development, governance, validation, and delivery of executive and committee reporting
  • Develop and maintain management information systems, dashboards, scorecards, and reporting packages
  • Establish and monitor KRIs, KPIs, and KCIs
  • Analyze and communicate trends related to transaction monitoring, suspicious activity, sanctions screening, customer risk profiles, investigations, and quality control outcomes
  • Ensure data integrity, accuracy, completeness, and consistency in management and regulatory reporting
  • Prepare and present program performance, risk trends, control effectiveness, regulatory developments, and remediation progress
  • Partner with Technology and Data Management teams on reporting capabilities, automation, data governance, and efficiency
  • Provide operational leadership for assigned team members and activities
  • Coach, develop, and support team members
  • Establish performance expectations, accountability standards, and department objectives
  • Support resource planning, prioritization, and workload management
  • Serve as a subject matter leader and escalation point
  • Collaborate with senior leaders, regulators, auditors, and business line partners
  • Lead initiatives to strengthen governance, improve controls, enhance reporting, and increase program maturity
  • Champion change efforts related to regulatory requirements, technology implementations, process improvements, and business growth
  • Promote accountability, sound risk management, and compliance throughout the enterprise

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Risk Management, Criminal Justice, Compliance, or a related field required
  • Master's degree preferred
  • Preferred certifications: Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS), Certified Financial Crime Specialist (CFCS), Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM)
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in AML/CFT Compliance, Risk Management, Internal Audit, Compliance, or related regulatory, governance, or control functions within a regulated financial industry
  • Minimum of 3 years of leadership experience managing people, projects, or complex compliance program activities
  • Demonstrated experience leading governance, quality control, quality assurance, compliance testing, reporting, or oversight functions within a regulated financial institution
  • Extensive knowledge of the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Anti-Money Laundering regulations, OFAC regulations, FinCEN requirements, the USA PATRIOT Act, and related banking regulations
  • Experience developing and presenting management, committee, and senior leadership reporting
  • Experience supporting regulatory examinations, internal audits, independent testing reviews, and remediation programs
  • Experience operating within, consulting for or supervising a mid-sized or large financial institution, preferably one with assets exceeding $8 billion
  • Proven ability to influence stakeholders, lead strategic initiatives, and drive cross-functional collaboration in a highly regulated environment
