About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Own evaluation systems and model-side quality improvements for Pattern's generative content platform
Build and maintain datasets, rubrics, and automated judges evaluating content-engine changes
Convert brand rejection reasons into structured, labeled training data for model improvements
Quantify qualitative improvements to generated content
Decide and defend approval thresholds for generated content with data science and brand teams
Build quality gates to catch problematic outputs before brand review and reduce rework
Complete onboarding and contribute to an existing regression suite
Own a defined slice of the evaluation system end to end
Drive a fine-tuning or retrieval experiment from hypothesis to validated result
Collaborate with brand, data science, engineering, and partner teams
Work on AI-generated titles, bullets, A+ modules, and imagery across ecommerce listings

Requirements

What you’ll need

Strong code and system design experience in any language or stack
3+ years owning production software services end to end
Formal statistics or machine learning training, or defensible equivalent depth built on the job
Experience engineering systems with non-deterministic outputs, where correctness has to be measured rather than assumed
Nice to have: Fine-tuning experience (LoRA/PEFT)
Nice to have: Hands-on LLM or generative media production work
Nice to have: Evaluation-system ownership
Nice to have: Multimodal evaluation
Nice to have: E-commerce domain knowledge
Nice to have: Human-labeling operations
Nice to have: A/B testing infrastructure
Ability to work a hybrid schedule based in Lehi, Utah
